If I had the keys to the world
If I could change it how I liked
You can bet your bottom dollar
It would be a different place
First of all I'd make the sky a lovely shade of pink
Exams would be so easy that you wouldn't have to think
Toilets and other household places would always clean themselves
And our morning coffee would be personally delivered
By smiley little elves.
But unfortunately we can't change the fundamental order
However we can make our choices count
Our lives can make a difference if we want them to.
But give me one wish, 'cos that's all I need
And I'd wish to be with you for always
If I had the keys to the world
If I could change it how I liked
You can bet your bottom dollar
It would be a different place
Chocolate would be good for you
As well as all things nice
There'd be no colds or coughs or bugs
Or fleas or tics or lice
Christmas would come twice a year
Without the stress, only good cheer
And everybody would keep chickens as pets
-House-trained chickens.
Unfortunately we can't change the fundamental order
However we can make our choices count
Our lives can make a difference if we want them to.
So why don't we smile at the tramp on the street
Be a bit more polite to the people we meet
Try not to worry about things that don't matter
And brighten the world with the sound of our laughter?
But give me one wish, 'cos that's all I need
And I'd wish to be with you for always.
If I had the keys to the world
If I could change it how I liked
You can bet your bottom dollar
It would be a pinker place.
